Privacy Policy
Effective May 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Dateful collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Dateful mobile app and the trydateful.com website (collectively, "Dateful"). Dateful is operated by Jason King ("we," "us," "our") and is based in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
What we collect
Account info
Your email address, display name, username, optional bio, and — if you sign in with Apple — an Apple-provided user identifier. Required to create an account.
Profile photo and post photos
Photos you upload to Dateful are stored on our servers (via Supabase Storage). Photos posted with dates are visible only to your confirmed friends.
Friend graph
The users you've added as friends and pending friend requests. Used to populate your feed and route date invites.
Date data
Questionnaire answers (vibe, budget, time of day, neighborhood, etc.), generated itineraries, swaps, refines, scheduled dates, and any notes you add. Retained to provide the service and to enforce free-tier usage limits.
Post content
Photos, captions, reviews, ratings, comments, and likes you create on Dateful.
Device push token
Provided by Apple. Used to send you notifications (friend requests, date reminders, etc.). Removed when you uninstall the app or revoke push permissions.
Calendar data
When you save a date to your calendar, we write the event to your local iOS calendar via the Calendar permission. We do not store the contents of your calendar on our servers.
App usage
How often you generate, swap, and refine dates. Used to enforce free-tier usage limits.
What we do NOT collect
- Precise location (we do not track your location)
- Contacts or address book
- Browsing history
- Financial information
- Biometric data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
How we use your information

- Enforce free-tier usage limits
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
- Keep Dateful secure (detect abuse, spam, fraud)
We do not use your data to train AI models unrelated to Dateful. AI itinerary generation uses Anthropic's Claude API — see "Who we share with."
